Shusterman uses incredible world-building skills to create a universe that is near unrecognisable from our own but still feels like it could happen at some point in the future. With the recent release of the final book, the Toll, I felt the need to share this with as many people as possible. I've been turned off the genre until 2016 when I first read Scythe by Neal Shusterman. Ever since the release of the Hunger Games, the YA fiction market, in particular dystopian settings, has felt very stale.
